03 November 2020 Remembrance Sunday

Every year we unite across faiths, cultures and backgrounds to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community from Britain and the Commonwealth.

At 11am on the second Sunday of November the most poignant and touching part of the service each year is the performance of The Last Post.

For anyone performing The Last Post for such an importance occasion it is a huge honour.  Services and parades have had to be cancelled this year but HCS are very proud that for two employees a way of honouring our fallen heroes has been found.

A key member of our support team, Paul Hing, was recorded performing The Last Post to an empty Leicester City Football Club stadium on Monday and his performance will be shown at the next home fixture to thousands of online fans.

In addition, our researcher, Kirsty Abbotts, has been asked to perform The Last Post at the cenotaph in her home town of South Elmsall on Sunday.

Only a few people have been granted permission to be part of a very small socially distanced service but the council insisted Kirsty was one of these as she has done so for many years.

HCS are incredibly proud that our colleagues continue to play an important part in such an important tradition at this difficult time for all of us.
