22 August 2013 HCS employs full time designer

Over the last 10 years, one of the most pronounced changes in IT has been the desire, and requirement, for user interfaces used in industrial applications to match the level of user experience found in more end applications.

This has been driven by web advancements, and most recently by the massive update of mobile devices and tablets.

At HCS, we recognise that if our interfaces do not perform in a way that the customer expects then the shelf life of them is considerably reduced.

With that in mind an initiative to recruit a graphic designer was embarked upon, and after some months the decision to employ Zac Crampton was made.

Zac has been running his own company for the past 4 years. Pixelthumb specialises in the creation & distribution of wallpapers, animations and simple applications specifically for mobile devices.

Looking for new challenges, he came across the HCS advert and felt that the role would allow him to do something that interested him, which was that he enjoyed  tackling design problems, especially those with a technical aspect.

Zac commented, “ When I saw HCS’s advertisement for the GUI Designer role, I could relate to many of the role’s requirements and felt it provided a natural step for my career progression. The prospect of filling a newly created position also made the role more appealing. Making a difference to a company’s identity, and hopefully performance, is a real incentive.”

Zac’s first challenge will be to refresh the Aurora interface. Aurora is the HCS archive & retrieval system. Paul Haigh, managing director commented, “I see this as a huge opportunity to take our products to the next level. An archive & retrieval solution has to work in a myriad of scenarios – and the look and feel is key to this.”
